In time for the 2020-21 academic year, Cherry Hills Christian School is enhancing two learning programs that already have provided solid support for students of The Lower and Upper Schools. The expansion of these programs promises to strengthen the alignment of our delivery of education with our students’ unique, individual needs.
The enhancements have been made possible through generous fundraising support from the CHC community — and we thank you.
A brief look at some of the wonderful things in store for our students:
Reach for Reading. CHC observed impressive results from the pilot of this dynamic and differentiated reading program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. Beginning next year, all classrooms will be equipped with a full stable of physical and digital tools and learning materials. Developed by National Geographic Learning, Reach for Reading is a comprehensive English Language Arts curriculum that encourages students to engage in large-group, small-group and individual learning that helps them become fluent readers and writers. Targeted teaching materials help ensure students are appropriately challenged throughout the school year.
Explore. This program offered in The Lower and Upper Schools is being expanded with staffing and learning materials so students needing additional academic challenges can find them both inside and outside their classrooms. Explore invites students into a world of creativity, hands-on learning and critical thinking where they can pursue a subject of specific interest. Students participating in Explore often meet in small groups, where they also can develop skills in core academic areas, such as reading, writing and math.
