Each year, students of the Lower and Upper Schools engage in Ministry in Motion — days providing unique opportunities for them to experience God’s love and extend it to others by performing acts of service for our ministry partners in metro Denver.
Our Upper Students in Grades 6-8 engaged in Ministry in Motion Nov. 12-13 under the banner theme, “Love and Serve Locally, Send Love Globally and Pray Creatively.”
With help from their families and friends, these students first supported a food drive, bringing to school nonperishable foods and toiletries that were sorted and boxed for delivery by Grade 8 students who served on site at four locations:
Movement 5280: This ministry focuses on serving at-risk youth. CHC students worked with founder Tina Hayhurst to cook a meal, create snack packs and organize clothing.
Westside Church International: Our students organized dozens food boxes and helped in the food bank this church operates for its surrounding neighborhood.
Salvation Army Warehouse: Students worked in the warehouse, sorting clothes and organizing food and supplies.
SECOR: Students delivered food collected from our school’s drive and organized supplies delivered through this organization.
Our Grade 6 and 7 students remained on campus, where they participated in still more service activities, including tasks to support Operation Christmas Child; a prayer walk; and small-group discussions designed to encourage them to love others through service.
What a joy to begin this holiday season by showing His love through service and by loving others well. It is a privilege and priority at CHC to walk alongside our students and to serve.
