Cherry Hills Christian School

Grade 8 visits start, heart of U.S. history

Each year, Cherry Hills Christian School’s oldest Lions — students in Grade 8 — travel to the eastern United States to see in person many of the wonderfully important things described in their American history books.

This isn’t the average school trek through the origins of our nation, either. At Cherry Hills Christian, we teach history with a biblical worldview, helping our students to have a strong command of world events and our country’s founding constitutional principles — and also new appreciation for the United States and the ways God blesses us as a nation.

April 5-10, our Grade 8 students and their fearless faculty leaders visited Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and Pennsylvania. Their stops included:

  • Colonial Williamsburg
  • American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
  • Michie Tavern
  • Mount Vernon
  • Gettysburg Battlefield and Gettysburg Visitor Center & Museum
  • Independence Hall
  • Shriver House
  • Liberty Bell
  • Jamestown Settlement
  • Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
  • Museum of the Bible
  • Memorials: MLK, Lincoln, Jefferson, Korea, Vietnam, WWII
  • An Amish meal
  • Cyclorama & Film – “A New Birth of Freedom” at Sight & Sound Theater
  • Constitution Center

Will everyone be ready for a nap after all of this? We’re betting yes.
