Our Portrait of a Graduate is beautiful to see in the making and a masterpiece to behold the day a student graduates from Grade 8, prepared for high school and grounded in the first steps of a lifelong walk with Jesus Christ. Cherry Hills Christian School partners with parents to shape and promote their child’s flourishing by focusing on four main elements of every Portrait of a Graduate: Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength.
Introducing Strength at CHC
When it comes to Strength, this question is at the forefront of our Faculty and Staff’s instruction and interactions with students: Is this child producing good fruit because they have abiding strength in the Lord? The fruits of the Spirit are explained throughout the Bible. For example, consider Galatians 5:22-26: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
To help our students build the Strength needed to produce the fruits of the Spirit, our decision-making processes are based on what is in the best interest for their personal and academic growth. We:
- Promote social-emotional learning and a healthy life balance for all students as we nurture reflective practices and Biblical conflict management.
- Encourage students to set attainable and aspirational goals, learn the value of hard work and dedication, and embrace the challenges and opportunities they will experience in high school and beyond.
- Provide dedicated and certified student counselors who give support to students whose needs go beyond academics.
- Emphasize campus security and safety. Helping children feel safe protects their health and makes them more likely to engage fully in their learning. CHC’s staff includes a dedicated School Resource Officer, Director of Facilities Operations and a Maintenance Coordinator who monitor our campus each full school day.
Promoting Strength at CHC
We call our generous givers Legacy Builders, and we invite them — CHC parents, friends, alumni and other donors — to support and advance our mission and vision through giving that is aligned with their unique passions, interests and giftedness.
Legacy Builders who wish to promote Strength at CHC influence students to produce good fruit out of an abiding relationship with God. They focus on supporting Student Leadership, Life Groups, Mental Health and Social Emotional Resources, Campus Safety and Security. They might connect CHC with Student Leadership Mentors and also help advance our Parent University.
