Karen O’Connor

Music Teacher

Karen launched her teaching career more than 35 years ago in her home state of Illinois after receiving a bachelor's degree in Music Education for Kindergarten-Grade 12 students from Eastern Illinois University. From there, she also has taught music -- including student bands and choirs -- in Pennsylvania and Colorado. She joined the CHC Faculty as Music Teacher of The Lower School in 2013, leading development of its outstanding student choir and expanding the choir program to students of The Upper School in the 2020-21 academic year.
Karen considers her work at CHC an immense blessing and privilege because she can share her faith freely with hopes of fostering deep and lasting Christian faith in her students.
When she's not teaching, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and children, playing her flute, dancing and reading. Traveling to visit her aging parents and sisters is also very important to her.
Karen's favorite Bible verse: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:7)
