Beliefs & Values
Cherry Hills Christian School embraces the whole Word of God, yet we recognize there may be different interpretations and applications of the teaching of Scripture. In light of this, we distinguish between essentials and non-essentials — and leave matters concerning the latter to the conscience of our church leadership and our families. We respect varying points of view, provided the essentials are not compromised.
We focus on helping students discover their God-given skills, building their confidence in their Christian views, and loving each other as Christ loves us.
What We Believe
The true Church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, are united together in the body of Christ.
All Scripture is self-attesting, and truthfulness requires our unreserved submission in all areas of life. The infallible Word of God, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is a complete and unified witness to God’s redemptive acts, culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible, uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.
Psalm 12:6, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12
We believe in one God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. To Him be all honor, glory, and praise forever!
Genesis 1:26, John 1:1-2, Mathew 28:19
Jesus Christ, the living Word, became flesh through his miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and his virgin birth. He who is true God became true man, united in one person forever. According to the Scriptures, he died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins. On the third day, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Mediator.
Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:26-38
The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and apply Christ’s saving work to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling our hearts, he gives new life to us, empowers and imparts gifts for service, and seals us for the day of redemption.
1 Corinthians 6:11, 1 John 4:13
Being estranged from God and condemned by our sinful nature, our salvation is wholly dependent on the work of God’s free grace; God credits his righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation and thereby justifies them in His sight. Only those who are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life.
Romans 8:17, 10:9
The true Church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expressing their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, and loving fellowship is maintained. For her perfecting, she awaits the return of her Lord.
Matthew 16:18, Acts 20:28
Jesus Christ will come again to the earth—personally, visibly, and bodily—to judge the living and the dead and to consummate history and God’s eternal plan. Even so, “come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22:20
The Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel worldwide and make disciples of all nations. Obedience to the Great Commission requires total commitment to him who “loved us and gave himself for us.” He calls us to a life of self-denying love and service. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 5:2, 2:10
As a ministry of Cherry Hills Community Church, we believe in the Biblical view of marriage between one man and one woman.
CHC works in partnership with our student’s parents to build a child’s conscience, confidence, and competence by helping them learn how to demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Professional development for our Faculty and Staff includes training in strategies to help students in all grades and across all subjects see life and learning through a biblical worldview. Dedicated directors of spiritual life for lower and middle school help ensure the integration of academics and spiritual formation, answer students’ questions, and help God’s word come alive throughout our campus.
By studying the authoritative and historically accurate biblical text, our students graduate confident that they are each a divine masterpiece, created for a relationship with the triune God—through faith in Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to glorify God. By examining scripture and their own lives, our students learn that God pursues all people, and they are challenged to develop practices of connecting with Him and serving others.
Our Core Values
Education is successful when parents, Cherry Hills Christian School, and a community of believers partner in this important responsibility.
Our highest values include:
CHC desires that students and staff flourish in their vertical relationship with God and their horizontal relationships with others.
Beginning in Preschool, the curriculum is developmentally appropriate. As students move into Lower School and Middle School, our academic rigor prepares students for top high schools and fosters in them a love of lifelong learning.
CHC provides a secure campus, where the physical, social, and emotional safety of each student is a high priority.
One way students better reflect the heart of Jesus Christ is by serving others. Missions and service are essential at CHC. Students grow in their awareness of the world and learn to honor God through acts of service.
We partner with parents to build a child’s conscience, confidence, and competence. CHC teaches students to demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
We work together to help students develop discernment and knowledge by teaching and modeling for them the wisdom, truth, and doctrine presented in Scripture, which has far-reaching applications across all subjects and at all times.
