Sean, a California native who arrived at CHC in 2015 by way of schools in Kansas, especially enjoys finding creative ways to use technology to enhance student engagement and understanding. He puts his master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Technology Enhanced Teaching from MidAmerica Nazarene University to very good use as coordinator of Cherry Hills Christian School’s remote learning program, CHC Connect. Sean also has a bachelor’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Elementary Education from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas.

Through his experience teaching students in Grades 3, 4 and 6, Sean continually innovates, looking for evermore effective and efficient ways to help CHC students thrive as learners and leaders in an increasingly tech-savvy world.
When he is not teaching, Sean enjoys exploring beautiful Colorado with his wife and their daughter. His favorite Bible verse: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Carey Bailey has 20 years of experience as a Family Life Pastor and six years as a Christian Life Coach, Carey transitioned into education at Cherry Hills Christian School in 2016.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Religion from Westminster College and is deeply passionate about equipping God’s children to live in the freedom of Christ and embrace the fullness of who God designed them to be.

As Dean of Students and Spiritual Life, Carey upholds the culture and discipline of the Middle School and leads the vision for spiritual life across Preschool through Grade 8. She collaborates closely with faculty specializing in Bible and Missions instruction to foster meaningful spiritual growth in students’ personal walks with God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Carey says her husband, Eric, keeps her laughing, and their two children are grateful to have been CHC Lions. In her free time, she enjoys Bible journaling, mixed media arts, strolling the aisles of Hobby Lobby, and observing the Sabbath.

With 21 years in education, April has dedicated her career to nurturing young learners, beginning as a preschool teacher before serving as an Assistant Director and Director of early childhood programs. Along the way, she partnered with Colorado Shines and the Alliance for Kids to support high-quality early education and developed an online preschool curriculum during the COVID-19 school closures so children could continue learning from home. Most recently, she taught Kindergarten through Second Grade at American Academy, and she is excited to join the Cherry Hills Christian community as a third grade teacher, where she looks forward to helping students grow academically while encouraging them to deepen their faith in Christ.

April has been married to her husband, Scott, for 20 years, and together they have two sons, Bryce and Skyler. She loves spending time with her family, cheering on Skyler at his baseball games, and embracing the joys of being a mom. Their home is also filled with a lively collection of pets—including cats, a dog, a rabbit, and a turtle—which makes it feel like a mini petting zoo! Teaching Experience 

After graduating from Biola University, Cindy taught elementary students at Christian schools in California and Vienna, Austria. Next, she worked for an international relief and development organization in Arizona where she learned about living out a biblical worldview in every aspect of life. She moved to Colorado with her family in 2005. While her two children were in school, she spent 11 years teaching students with learning challenges and differences at a Douglas County charter school. In 2022 God called Cindy to CHC to develop the Foundations class for K-5 where she teaches students “how to learn” by focusing on executive functioning skills. She deeply desires to empower every student to discover their strengths and overcome their weaknesses by God’s grace to become all He has created them to be and to fulfill His purposes.

Mr. Ben (it’s easier for students to say and remember) joined The Upper School Faculty in 2007 to teach technology. Today, he serves CHC as a Systems Specialist focused on helping the entire school use technology wisely to operate smoothly. Mr. Ben grew up in California and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in education from San Jose State University in the heart of the Bay Area, where he went on to work in Information Technology in education and business for companies including Intel and Applied Materials. Acting on faith, he decided to make the leap into full-time teaching and moved with his wife to Colorado — and CHC! In addition to his love for all things technological, Mr. Ben is an avid San Francisco Giants fan and amateur numismatist. He loves spending time with his wife of 19 years Melody and their three children Jack (15), Kate (13), and James (11).

With a Master’s Degree in elementary education, Christine has spent time teaching every elementary grade level including gifted and talented education. This is her 14th year teaching at the elementary level and has spent seven of those years teaching third grade.

Bill arrived at CHC in 2013, after living in six other states and traveling much of the world. Before becoming a teacher, he put his bachelor’s degree in Business from Washington University in St. Louis to work as an insurance underwriter and claim representative and as the manager of a bookkeeping team at a telecommunications company. He tapped into his passion for teaching when he joined the nonprofit organization Youth with a Mission and lived in Russia for three years, where he taught English and helped run a training school for people new in their Christian faith. He remained with the organization for an additional six years, spending time in Mexico, Czech Republic and South Africa.

Bill ultimately returned to Colorado, where he received a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver. He is certified to teach Kindergarten though Grade 6 and secondary Social Studies — the subject he is keenly interested in helping students understand with a biblical worldview. Before arriving at CHC, Bill taught in Jefferson County Schools and at an expeditionary/Outward Bound magnet school.
Outside of CHC, Bill enjoys reading, writing, hiking, biking, running and game nights with his wife and their three children. He also looks forward to occasional teaching stints in his children’s Sunday School classes.

Brenda began her career in Texas teaching 3rd grade for one year.  As a newlywed, she moved to Utah where she taught 6-8th grade E/LA and 3rd grade. Another professional moved landed Brenda in Nevada where she served Lake Tahoe schools in different capacities.  She began as a District Gifted & Talented Specialist for 2nd-6th grade, then Brenda returned to the classroom teaching various combinations of 1st-4th grades.  She also accepted the challenge of being the school specialist for the PE, music, and art programs for K-6th grades. Brenda also enjoyed being an Adjunct Faculty member for the University of Phoenix. She taught master level reading courses and was a mentor for new faculty members.

Mike serves as the Director of Security for CHC, covering both Cherry Hills Community Church and Cherry Hills Christian School.  Previously, Mike served as a police officer and SWAT operator here in Colorado with the Broomfield Police Department and also served with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Dan proudly serves with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. He is a certified NASRO Practitioner – the highest level of certification for School Resource Officers, awarded by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). Over the years, he has gained extensive experience in various roles, including working in the Douglas County Jail, patrolling the community, and serving as a School Resource Officer. As the School Resource Officer, he works closely with students, faculty, and parents to create a secure and supportive educational environment, addressing safety concerns and fostering positive relationships.

Dr. Don Davis assumed the role of Head of School at Cherry Hills Christian on June 1, 2025. With a distinguished career in educational leadership spanning nearly two decades, Dr. Davis brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth.

A Visionary Leader 

Dr. Davis has dedicated the past 23 years to serving in various administrative roles within the private school sector, including positions as an athletic director, assistant head of school, and head of school at Second Baptist School in Houston, TX. His leadership is characterized by a passion for Christ-centered education and a vision for nurturing the whole child—academically, spiritually, and socially.

Shannon has taught elementary school for over 25 years in Texas, Minnesota and the past 12 in the Vail Valley. She has taught many grade levels, but has spent the majority of her career teaching lower elementary. Shannon has served on many leadership teams and committees throughout her years in education and is a lifelong learner herself.

After a successful career in business and marketing, Allison found her passion in education. With more than thirteen years of teaching experience at both the middle and high school levels, she has taught business, technology, computer science, and career and technical education courses. She now teaches 7th grade Mathematics and Personal Finance, two subjects she loves because they empower students with skills they can immediately apply to everyday life. Allison is passionate about helping students build confidence in math, develop lifelong financial literacy, and prepare for future success. She is also an advocate for ethical leadership, workforce readiness, and the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in education.

Pam taught at Cherry Hills Christian School for seven years before moving into the role of Assistant Director and now serving as Director of Lower School. She is passionate about guiding students to see the world through the lens of Christ, immersing them in a Christian worldview that nurtures the whole child academically, spiritually and socially. 

Pam grew up back east and attended Marshall University, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. She later received her teaching certificate through the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs (UCCS) and began her teaching career.

Pam is a wife and mother of two wonderful young adults. Outside of her role at CHC, her favorite thing to do is spend time with family and friends. The Bible verse she holds near and dear is Proverbs 3:5-6, as it continues to guide her daily life.

Sandy’s passion for maintaining and advancing excellence in education at Cherry Hills Christian School didn’t end after her two children spent a combined 14 years of their educational careers here. She is a graduate of the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and has served CHC since 2001. Her expertise in financial management and commitment to biblically principled stewardship help ensure CHC’s sound fiscal health, and also position our school for continual innovation and growth. Professional Experience 

After graduating from UTEP she began her career as a Juvenile Probation Officer. Shortly thereafter, she felt the Lord move in her heart to change careers and go into teaching. This was confirmed when she met with the Principal of Faith Christian Academy and the Principal asked her, “What took  you so long?”  Lisa retired teaching after 30 years of being faithful to the calling on her life. She has taught grades Kindergarten through 9^th grade in Tennessee and Texas.

Professional Experience 

Kirsten began her professional journey working with teens walking difficult paths in life offering supportive case management and youth programming. Kirsten then shifted to working with children, youth and families involved in the Child Welfare systems through various roles to support their well-being and then found her way to the academic world working with students to provide individualized social emotional education. Kirsten also works with individuals externally through private practice since becoming an LCSW Clinician in 2022. Kirsten thoroughly enjoys building genuine connections with children and their families in order to support their overall growth and well-being.

Before Arianne joined Cherry Hills Christian School in 2021, she worked in kid’s ministry, managed customer service centers for a telecommunications company, sold Crocs shoes, taught in a preschool in Westminster, CO and spent several years at home taking care of her kids.

Professional Experience 

Trevor has spent his career helping athletes pursue excellence while using athletics as a vehicle for discipleship. Before joining Cherry Hills Christian School, he served for 11 years as the Director of Athletic Performance at Colorado School of Mines, helping Mines Athletics achieve unprecedented competitive success, including multiple national championship and national runner-up finishes across 16 NCAA Division II programs. Trevor is also the owner and founder of Engineering High Performance, where he continues to consult and coach, serving everyone from NFL organizations to youth athletes and everyday dads. Through every opportunity, his mission remains the same: to use athletics as a vehicle for discipleship, development, and community formation.

Christy Gardner is a Denver native and mother of three CHC K-8 graduates who has thoroughly enjoyed teaching elementary students since 1995. At Cherry Hills Christian School, she has served in a variety of teaching roles, including heading classrooms in Grades 1 and 3 and as our school’s librarian. Christy now serves as a Learning Specialist, coming alongside teachers and students in Grades 1-5 with various learning supports provided through our outstanding Academic Services.

Shawn has been a working artist since finishing his MFA in painting from the University of Tennessee in 2003. His passion for art goes beyond the canvas. He loves the history of art and what it has taught him about himself and the world. Shawn and his wife Alma have a son in the Navy and teaches nuclear engineering in South Carolina. Their daughter Andrea has been a student at CHC since Preschool. They feel blessed to be part of the CHC family. Shawn joined the CHC faculty in 2019 and teaches students in Grades K-5. He was born in north Georgia and his pursuit of education has placed him in many states. He is happy to call Colorado home. Elizabeth has called Colorado home for 20 years, moving here from Dayton, Ohio 4 days after she graduated from college. She holds a BS in Hearing in Speech Sciences and a minor in Psychology from Ohio University. She has enjoyed her experiences over the years working with both the elderly and school age populations. After moving here, Elizabeth started working in healthcare where she planned and implemented programs for seniors. She specialized in Alzheimer’s and Dementia care educating families on how to communicate with and engage their memory impaired loved one in meaningful activities. Later she helped start a non-profit hospice where she managed volunteers and educated the Denver community about communicating and supporting patients at the end of life; definitely one of her passions. 

Elizabeth and her husband, Reed, have 2 little boys, Jack and Henry and 2 dogs, Oliver & Elsie. When it came time for Jack to start Kindergarten, they knew Cherry Hills Christian was the best place for their family. The loving and devoted staff, Christ Centered learning and community feel was perfect to nurture their children’s love for Jesus for years to come!

After staying home with her boys for 6 years, she felt that God was calling her to become more involved in the CHCS community. After lots of prayer, the opportunity came up for Elizabeth to join the CHCS staff in the Academic Services department as a Learning Specialist. This was a big career change, but has been a huge blessing in so many ways! She loves being able to use her experience and skills in language acquisition with young students now.

Elizabeth is starting her 3rd year as a Learning Specialist with CHCS where she works mainly with PreK & Kindergartners. She finds such joy in helping these young students work on various language development skills to help them build a solid foundation for reading and love of learning. Working 1:1 with students allows her to really get to know kids and their families, build confidence in them and remind them that they are wonderfully made and one of God’s masterpieces.

Sean has spent the last 25 years serving students and educators across the country. He’s worked as a middle school principal, a school leadership coach, and most recently, as an educational consultant. He’s known nationally for his innovative approach to education—especially his work in creating collaborative models and a groundbreaking method for teaching math, which was featured in the CBS documentary TEACH in 2013. 

Sean’s leadership helped his previous school earn the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award for student growth, and he holds degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership.

Adrie Keesen has served as a Teacher’s Assistant at CHC since 2008, after shepherding her own three children through successful careers in Christian education here and at Denver Christian and Valor Christian High School. She is a graduate of Northeastern State University with a degree in Business Administration and Management. Adrie derives great joy from working with students and her CHC colleagues. When she isn’t in the classroom, she and her husband, both natives of The Netherlands, enjoy hiking, working in their yard, traveling in Colorado and visiting their children. “Most importantly,” Adrie says, “I love God.”

Shelley grew up in beautiful Montana at the base of a ski resort. She entered the field of preschool education in 2000, teaching young students in Texas and Missouri before arriving at CHC in 2004 to serve in The Preschool and as After-Care Program Leader.

A Colorado native, Natalie is excited to return home after four years at Liberty University, where, because she really and truly could not pick just one discipline to study, she graduated magna cum laude with two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in English and the other in history, with Virginia and Colorado teaching licensure for both subjects. After practicums at all secondary levels, Natalie completed her student teaching in rural Bedford County, Virginia, where she was recognized as a Virginia Teacher of Promise, a distinction awarded to individuals identified as the best prospective teachers from college and university schools of education across the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is a graduate of Valor Christian High School and remains steadfastly passionate about excellence in Christian education. Because of this, she is thrilled to join the Cherry Hills Christian family!

In her spare time, Natalie enjoys watching Jeopardy and shouting the answers at the TV, going on random research bunny trails, hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, knitting, and volunteering at her church. Born in Minnesota to a military family, Lisa has enjoyed living in Colorado since she was a teenager. She is the proud mother of three fabulous, grown children and one spectacular grandson. All three of her children are Cherry Hills Christian School alumni.

Lisa has a bachelor’s degree in English and a Secondary Education teaching license from the University of Colorado-Boulder. She has taught Language Arts and various electives in The Upper School since 2003. Lisa thrives on the energy of her students and considers it a privilege to share her Christian faith while instilling a love for Language Arts.

Scott comes to us after 37 years in law enforcement, the majority of which was with the Broomfield Police Department. Scott was a sergeant for most of his career and is a respected leader, serving in nearly all aspects of law enforcement including SWAT, traffic, SRO, and patrol.  Scott has a heart for service and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our campus.  However, most importantly, Scott is a man who seeks to honor God in all he does and he brings a presence of peace and protection with him wherever he goes.

Professional Experience

Scott was blessed with a 37 year career in law enforcement that allowed him to work for several different agencies, including the Broomfield Police Department for the last 35 years. His experience included assignments in Patrol, Investigations and as the first School Resource Officer in Broomfield, at Broomfield High School for 4 years. He was an original and founding member of the Broomfield SWAT team, where he served for 15 years. After his promotion to sergeant, Scott managed the construction of the City & County of Broomfield’s jail and supervised teams in Patrol, Court Security, Detentions, Traffic and the School Resource Officer Unit. He also served as an original member and eventual supervisor of the Honor Guard.

Scott loves to spend time with his wonderful wife, Michelle to whom he has been married since 1992, and their awesome daughter, Samantha. They spend as much time as they can on the family ranch in Cedaredge, Colorado, where Scott loves to hike and hunt deer and elk. Todd’s extensive experience in ministry, education and legal practice help students of The Upper School delve deeper into God’s amazing word. As their Bible teacher and now Director of Upper School, his passion is to help ignite and fan into flame each student’s love of God and love of others.

Todd arrived on Faculty at CHC in 2019 after serving for five years as Head of School at Denver Christian. He also has served as Lead Pastor of West Bowles Community Church in Littleton, a teacher of junior and senior high school Bible students at Front Range Christian and executive director of That the World May Know Ministries. Before focusing on ministry and Christian education, Todd practiced law in Denver as a trial attorney.

For more than 20 years, Todd has led springtime study trips to Israel and invites CHC students, families and fellow Faculty and Staff members to travel with him there each spring.
Todd earned a bachelor’s degree from Hope College in Holland, Mich.; a juris doctorate from Indiana University School of Law; and master’s degree in Divinity from Denver Seminary. He is absolutely thrilled to be walking alongside CHC’s incredible students during such a coming-of-age time in their lives.

Todd and his wife Jill have three children: Ben, a professional golfer; Dani, a math teacher at Valor Christian High School; and Pete, a Criminal Justice graduate from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.

She spent the first 15 years of her career in Texas before moving to Colorado, where she has taught for the past five years. These experiences have strengthened her passion for meeting the unique needs of every student and helping each child reach their full potential.  Angela’s passion for teaching comes from her own childhood struggles with reading. Because of those challenges, she understands how important it is for every child to feel encouraged, supported, and believed in. She strives to create a classroom where students feel safe to take risks, grow in confidence, and develop a love for learning.  Her faith is the foundation of both her life and her teaching, and she is grateful to be back in a Christian environment where faith and learning go hand in hand. Tammie Martella helps ensure CHC Preschool students are learning and having fun year ’round. She previously served as the Women’s Ministry Director at Covenant Church of Naples and as the Elders’ Wives Liaison for the Presbyterian Church in America’s Committee on Discipleship Ministries. Her experience also includes Christian publishing with The Good Book Company, church planting, and serving as a Mission to North America church planting assessor and gospel coach. 

Meaghan believes Christian education is a unique opportunity to partner with families as students are formed to think biblically, grow in wisdom, and love Christ wholeheartedly. She is grateful to support Dr. Don Davis and the Cherry Hills leadership team in that mission.

Meghan is no stranger to CHC – her children attended CHC for both our Preschool and Middle School. She has previously taught in Douglas County, worked for Nectar tutoring services, and supported CHC students as part of our CHAS team.

Since 2020, Meghan has pursued her interest in Human Resources, gaining valuable experience at Windcrest Senior Living, Rocky Mountain Assisted Living, and CarePoint Health. She brings strengths in recruiting, compliance, and benefits administration. Meghan holds a BA in Communications, an MA in Curriculum and Instruction, and is certified through both PHR and HRCI.

Meghan’s background in both education and HR, coupled with her firsthand knowledge of CHC’s culture and community, make her a wonderful addition to our staff.

A Colorado native, Rebecca is Cherry Hills Christian School’s Controller. She is responsible for  overseeing financial reporting and for directing aspects of CHC’s accounting and operations. She also is responsible for implementing policies and procedures to conduct financial reporting.

Rebecca’s career has spanned more than two decades of experience in accounting, reporting and compliance. She is a graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Since 2015, Rebecca also has served CHC as a parent volunteer, and is excited to use her accounting expertise to support the school her family calls home. She and her husband Josh live in Highlands Ranch with their two sons, who are currently enrolled at CHC.

After some time working in the government and real estate fields, as well as time at home with her three children, Ashley returned to teaching full-time in 2014. She has also worked as a national and international flight nurse for emergent and non-emergent patients. Patti has served in several roles since joining the CHC team in 2003 with her current as the Administrative Assistant to the Directors. Her attention to detail comes from her years of experience as a licensed real estate transaction coordinator, where she reviewed and wrote real estate contracts, to being an administrative assistant for top-producing agents in the Evergreen and Denver Tech Center areas.

Patti considers CHC her second home. She and her husband Mike are the parents of one daughter, Morgan, who attended CHC from Preschool through Grade 8. She is also a long-time member of Cherry Hills Community Church.

When she’s not at work, Patti enjoys traveling, hiking, volunteering, and spending time with family.

She worked in sales for Fortune 500 companies before becoming a mother of two and staying home. As her children got older, she began working part-time as the Assistant Director of Connections at a local church and has been on staff with a nonprofit based in Kenya since 2018. Although a Colorado native, Garlyn began her career in Pryor, OK after completing her BME, teaching Junior High Choir and assisting with the High School Choirs for 2 years. Upon moving back to Denver in 1998, Garlyn was the High School Choir Director and Vocal Musical Director at a local high school, alongside periodically teaching Beginning Piano and Musical Theater Classes, for the following 27 years. During that time, Garlyn also taught Middle School Choir in her district/school, and completed her MME at CU Boulder. Singing in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Chorus for 2 seasons was also an honor and wonderful highlight in recent past years. Garlyn currently serves as Past Chair on the Colorado All State Choir (ASC) Board, and has served as Board Chair and Metro Governor on the ASC Board for the past 10+ years. She is also a member of the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA), and Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA). Beyond the classroom, Brandi has invested in the lives of students through ministry, and is married to Wade, who serves on staff at Cherry Hills as the 6–12 Student Pastor. In 2025, the Lord blessed them with their miracle daughter, Elsie Kate, who has brought immeasurable joy to their family. Outside the classroom and student ministry, the Smith family loves traveling and experiencing other cultures, cheering on their favorite sports teams.

Kimmy began teaching at CHC in 2017 and has over 22 years of teaching experience in the classroom setting as well as the coaching field. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Georgia and her Elementary Education degree at the University of West Georgia. Kimmy also has an extensive background in nursing, dietetics, and personal training.

Kristi began her teaching career as a 3rd grade teacher in Memphis TN, stayed home to raise her own children for 12 years and then taught 3rd-6th grade in Loveland, Ohio including gifted education in 5th and 6th grade before moving to Colorado with her family.. She came to Cherry Hills Christian School in 2022 as the Explore Enrichment Specialist and is now the Lower School Dean of Academics. Kristi has over 21 years of teaching experience.

When Kristi is not at CHC, she can often be found in the mountains or on a trail. Kristi loves hiking with her husband, children and bernedoodle and doing other outdoor activities. Amy has been teaching since 2006, and her experience is vast. She is always seeking opportunities to engage students in exciting, positive, and memorable learning experiences that feed their curiosity and help them feel comfortable being courageous learners. Cecil Williams is a dedicated educator who has faithfully served Cherry Hills Christian School for more than 20 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science and a master’s degree in education, equipping him with a strong foundation for both classroom instruction and leadership. 

Throughout his career, Cecil has taught in a wide range of roles, including fifth grade, middle school math, science, and physical education. His versatility and passion for student growth have allowed him to impact students both academically and physically. In addition to teaching, Cecil has served as Athletic Director, helping to develop and lead athletic programs that emphasize teamwork, discipline, and character. 

Sports have played a significant role in shaping Cecil’s life and leadership. A former Division II collegiate basketball player, he has spent many years coaching athletes at multiple levels. His experience as both a player and a coach supports his approach to mentoring students and developing well-rounded student-athletes.

Kyle met his wife, Brooklyn, at Grand Canyon University, where they graduated and were wed on the same day. They both immediately got jobs teaching in the area. Kyle enjoys mountain sports, especially of the winter variety, long conversations with friends, and making or listening to any kind of music.

Teaching Experience: I taught Kindergarten and Grade 2 in the Philippines before moving back to the United States and beginning my work at Cherry Hills Christian School. I currently split my time serving as a coach for students in The Preschool and as a teacher for the Explore and Makerspace programs in The Lower School.
