CHC’s Sister School: Musana

Cherry Hills Christian is fortunate to have established a flourishing partnership with Musana Community Development Organization, founded in 2008 by CHC parents Haril and Andrea Kazindra. Situated in Iganga, Uganda, approximately 75 miles northeast of Kampala’s capital, Musana began as a home for 80 neglected children and has evolved into a Community Development Organization that impacts hundreds of thousands through quality healthcare, skills training, and top-tier education.

The educational partnership between CHC and Musana aims to raise awareness about sustainable solutions that offer hope and dignity to the most vulnerable while fostering community ties among students, educators, and families across continents.

More About Musana

Musana’s Mission

Musana’s mission is to break cycles of dependency and poverty by investing in and operating faith-driven, locally-owned, sustainable social enterprises.

They recognize the interconnected needs of vulnerable communities and take a holistic approach to build pathways out of poverty. They

believe in empowering local leaders to drive economic and social growth of their own communities through social enterprises that promote education, health, and economic development (skill training and job creation).

Education

Musana believes that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty within the community as a whole. With high dropout rates and a lack of quality standards within schools in Uganda, Musana offers the community quality educational institutes that go beyond the national curriculum in order to raise future generations of empowered leaders. We are known for our high educational standards, exceptional living conditions and most importantly, our emphasis on being a Christ-centered loving home to all of the children on our campuses.

Connection

Throughout the year, CHC provides several opportunities to raise money for Musana. Families and students bring in donations while learn more about the Musana stories, specific grade groups write to students who are learning at the Musana school sites, and CHC hosts events where Musana merchandise is sold. Site visits also have occured the past couple of years.

In June 2023, Head of School Kati Melton, Director of Middle School Christy Kloter, and their families visited Musana. During their trip, they engaged with classes, met with educators and leaders, and participated in Vacation Bible School, with plans to visit upcoming communities under development.

In May 2024, a team of CHC staff, including Christy Kloter, Pam Dyer, Kim Stevens, and Lisa Krantz, visited Musana to exchange knowledge with Musana teachers, providing support and professional development for their classrooms.
